All equipment will be provided, and everyone is welcome. Please book a place for everyone attending, children under 18 years of age must be supervised by an adult. Meet us at 10:30 in the beach car park (top of the steps by the ice cream serving hatch).

The Green Library Hubs project is a 3-year project, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and led by CILIP to support libraries and their users to take climate action in their communities. It is delivered in partnership with the British Library, Julie’s Bicycle and CAG Consultants along with 10 public libraries.
Site Area
This beach clean will focus on the area of Portreath Beach, and will last 1—1.5 hours. Friendly, quiet dogs are welcome, but we ask they are kept on a short lead throughout.
What will we provide?
We'll provide the beach cleaning kit, including gloves, alcohol hand gel, bin bags and pickers (for those who want them) and hi vis. A health and safety briefing will take place before heading onto the shore.
Photo permission forms will be made available for people who would like to be included in group photos.
We will also have some litter ID sheets and survey forms for those who would like to record what they find so we can report it back to the Marine Conservation Society
What do you need to bring?
Walking boots, wellies or shoes with good grip, clothing appropriate for the weather outside, a drink and food as required, any medication you may need, a mobile phone, sun protection (good weather days).
Accessibility
We will be on the move for around 1 hour 30 minutes during this clean-up. However, if you need to leave during this time, or want to take a break and rejoin – that is fine, please just let the organisers know. There are steps down to the beach, but there is an alternative access point, just off the road towards the surf lifesaving club. The area of the beach clean may include some gentle slopes, uneven sand, rocky ground, and slippery surfaces. Please let us know in advance if you have questions or concerns about the site.
Public toilets are available adjacent to the Pod Café.
Keeping everyone safe
We will have a first aid kit and mobile phone. A copy of the risk assessment for the Beach clean will be available to view before/during the event.
What if the event is cancelled?
If this event is cancelled due to poor weather conditions or other circumstances, we will get in touch with you the day before to let you know. Please ensure you provide a contact number when you sign up.
