Metal Art Jewellery Workshop
Join us in person for a fun and hands-on experience creating copper metal art jewellery. We'll be working right on the shoreline, using rocks to shape and design a unique necklace. Perfect for anyone who loves getting creative outdoors and wants to craft something truly special. Don’t miss this chance to connect with nature and make your own wearable art!
Work with Artists/Sculptors Melissa and Gaia Hampson-Smith to make your own piece of art jewellery, inspired by the Copper Mining and Seafaring heritage of Cornwall. Learn the Hampson-Smith’s methods of working Copper with beach stones borrowed from the shores of St Ives. Spend a couple of hours on the shoreline creating a piece of wearable art to remember your visit to St Ives, linking the beautiful Ocean with the Heritage of the Cornish landscape and St Ives art scene.
There have been a couple of attendees reaching out for more info, so I thought I would give a bit more here.
Note that this is mainly a workshop for the experience of working metal on the shoreline of St Ives with natural materials in the environment and connecting with nature.
The Copper will be of varying shapes and sizes for attendees to choose from on the day. Between 2-4 cm
There will be silver discs to purchace on the day, starting at £20 for a disc just under 2 cm.
I have been asked to provide sea glass if possible. So I am sourcing some sea glass pieces as an option for attendees to add, and I will also bring along some beautiful coloured agate beads from my local supplier. Agate can be found in Cornwall, so it will be nice to work with a bead or two of agate if this is what you would like. The sea glass and agate will be a couple of/few pounds each, depending on size.
The workshop includes a necklace to string the work onto.
I look forward to a fun making session :D
