STICK's autumn conference will explore Scotland's rich railway heritage.
Following on from our Spring Event, which celebrated the anniversary of the opening of the Monkland and Kirkintilloch Railway in 1826, and reflected on the variety of events around railway heritage in the UK last year as part of Railway 200, this conference explores ways in which 200 years of railways have shaped Scotland's history and landscape.
Returning this year to the Engine Shed, Stirling, we are excited to present a fascinating and varied programme with topics including viaducts, signalling, and how the railways created the fish supper.
Speakers will include:
Felix Birch (Geotechnical Engineer, Network Rail)
Linda Fitpatrick (Head Curator, Scottish Fisheries Museum)
Moira McPartlin (Writer and Poet) and Colin Baird (retired Civil Engineer and Photographer)
Mark Watson (Deputy Head of Industrial Heritage, Historic Environment Scotland)
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) John Young
