The Queer Craft: Session 28 - Make & Mingle will be held at The Dudson Centre in Stoke on August 26, 2026. The event is an LGBTQ+ category event and is free to attend.
Queercraft: A relaxed, inclusive social to bring your own crafts or use free supplies. Dave is on hand to help. All welcome!
🧵 Queer Craft: Make & Mingle –
Project 93 invites you to a relaxed, creative, and welcoming evening of crafting, chatting, and connecting! We are hosting a self-led arts and crafts social specifically for LGBTQ+ individuals (18+) living in Staffordshire.
Think of it like a traditional knit-and-natter, but open to every kind of craft under the sun! Whether you want to finish off that project you’ve been putting off for months or dive headfirst into a brand-new hobby using our free supplies, this is the perfect space to unwind and create.
A note for newcomers: You are so welcome! We fully understand how daunting it can feel to step into a new space and meet new people for the first time. Please know that we intentionally facilitate our groups to ensure everyone feels safe, valued, and included. Whether you're coming with a friend, a carer, or arriving solo, we pride ourselves on being a friendly, inclusive space where the focus is on individuality and building a community.
🌈 What’s the Session About?
We are opening up the space at the Dudson Centre for a completely self-paced, pressure-free creative evening. No artistic experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm (or your current work-in-progress!). You can choose to:
Bring Your Own Project (BYOP): Bring along your knitting, crochet, embroidery, sketching, mending, or journaling. It’s the ultimate excuse to finally tackle your "unfinished objects" pile in good company!
Raid Our Craft Stash: Don’t have a project on the go? No problem! Enjoy free access to our communal supply of pens, coloured pencils, paper, card, scissors, and glue.
Try Something New: Make friendship bracelets, fold origami, create intricate mandala patterns, or design vibrant collages.
Friendly Help on Hand: The session is self-led, but our volunteer Dave will be around all evening to offer crafty tips, help troubleshoot a tricky idea, or get you set up with materials if you’re not sure where to start.
✨ What You’ll Get Out of It:
Pure Relaxation: A chance to switch off from everyday stress and enjoy some mindful, creative "me-time."
Community & Connection: A warm, chatty space to meet fellow local LGBTQ+ makers and share ideas.
Creative Freedom: Total flexibility to make whatever you want, at your own speed, with zero judgment.
Finished (or Started!) Projects: Head home with progress on your latest piece or something brand-new you've created during the night.
📋 The Essentials:
What to bring: Bring any personal craft projects you’d like to work on. If not, just bring yourself—we provide the rest!
Cost: Completely Free, but booking is essential as spaces are limited.
Vibe: Relaxed, creative, social, and completely welcoming.
⏰ Times & Refreshments
We aim to start the session at 6:30 PM, but our doors will be open from 6:15 PM. We'd love for you to come along early to get settled and have a chat before we begin. We will wrap up around 8:00 PM, though we’ll be around until 8:15 PM if you want to finish off a conversation!
Refreshments: We provide free tea, coffee, water, and juice. If you fancy a hot chocolate, a can of pop, or some biscuits, these are available for a small donation. We also have fully accessible toilet facilities on-site.
❤️ About Project 93
We are a registered charity dedicated to providing inclusive support, advocacy, and education that empowers individuals and communities across Staffordshire to embrace their unique journeys.
While this session is free to attend, we do rely on funding and community support to keep our programmes running. There will be an opportunity to pick up some merchandise or make a donation during the event if you wish. Every penny goes directly back into our mission.
