Exploring Clinical Academic careers and NIHR funding opportunities

Join us for an inspiring and interactive research engagement event designed to support Nurses, Midwives, Allied Health Professionals, Pharmacists and Clinical Scientists at UHNM who are interested in developing research knowledge, skills, and clinical academic careers.

Funded by the NIHR, this event will showcase how research can shape the future of healthcare and provide attendees with practical insights into nurturing clinical academic careers, designing research projects, and developing funding proposals to support Master's, PhD applications and beyond.

Throughout the day, attendees will hear from expert speakers on a range of key topics, including:

Developing a research area of interest and creating meaningful research questions

Building an effective supervisor and support network

Understanding Narrative CVs, NIHR pathways, and career development opportunities

Patient and public involvement in research design and funding applications

Inclusion, equality, and diversity in research design and funding applications

Embedding priority areas in research, such as sickness to prevention, analogue to digital and multiple long-term conditions

Sustainability and climate-conscious research practices within healthcare research

Research delivery and the impact of studies on improving patient outcomes and healthcare services

In addition to keynote presentations, attendees can book 10-minute expert clinic sessions. For example, these may be for personalised advice on methodology, statistics, ethics, inclusion, patient involvement, and funding opportunities.

Whether you are new to research, considering a clinical academic career, or looking to strengthen your research knowledge and networks, this event offers valuable guidance, practical insights, and opportunities to connect with those interested in developing research capacity, as well as subject-matter experts.
