About This Event

The INSIGHT Academy will host a workshop titled Trauma & Drug Induced Psychosis: Creating a Safe Space for Customers at The Dudson Centre in Stoke. Led by Jason Snape, it covers supporting customers experiencing psychosis. Tickets range from free to £87.38.

Trauma and Drug Induced Psychosis: Creating A Safe Space For Happier Customers

This half day, workshop driven session, focuses on environmental management. We will look at how to create a safer environment by considering physical, procedural and relational security, along with strategies for critical events.

1. Physical security: Understanding the environment; safety, movement, ambience and low-stimulus spaces. Staff and patient perspectives.

2. Procedural security: Person centred processes for improving engagement, environmental safety and respectful relationships. Understanding how customers read the environment.

3. Relational security: Strategic approaches to staff-client relationships; trust, consistency and confidentiality. Team supervision and mentorship.

4. Critical Events: Strategies for improving intelligence, empathy and problem solving with challenging behaviours. Recognising staff stress and burnout.

About Jason

Jason is a Consultant Nurse with 30 years experience in specialist mental health services. His experience is eclectic, including neuropsychiatry, inpatient acute and psychosis settings, crisis care, community mental health, secure hospitals, multi-agency casework and specialist justice liaison up to national level. He also has additional experience in complex formulation and report writing, leadership and special security measures.

In a consultancy role Jason focuses on creative solutions to complex problems and clients who are specially challenging in risk and engagement. Operating at multi-agency and national levels, consolidating many years leading new developments and complex projects. He has established credibility and reputation in partnership working for both formulation and outcomes.

Lunch & Refreshments will be provided after the session allowing time for Q&A, if you have any dietary requirements please let us know at least 2 weeks prior to the training date.

The car park at the Dudson Centre is at the front of the building and pay & display.
