About This Event

An evening of practical volunteering for habitat management in the Heart of England Forest will take place at Church Bank Farm in Binton on 6 October 2026. The session is free and organised under the Afterhours Green Guardians initiative.

Join us for an evening of practical volunteering habitat management out in the Heart of England Forest.

Every autumn our volunteer teams are busy across the Forest, collecting seed from over 30 different species of broadleaf tree, all destined to grow the next generation of trees for the Heart of England Forest.

Join us for an evening of hands on seed processing as we clean, sort, process and store the diverse seeds, nuts and berries collected throughout the season.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the various species trees that make up the Heart of England Forest, get hands on with a fascinating variety of woodland seeds, and play an important part in growing our future Forests.

Spend time in the natural environment, learn new skills, keep fit, and make new friends, with a social sit down at the end of each session.

These sessions are perfect for those who want to support the Forest but are unable to volunteer during the day or at weekends. Whether you can join just one session or all of them, your contribution will be greatly appreciated. There’s a specific focus on meeting new people and connecting with the environment, whilst helping to nurture the Forest.
