Join us for an evening of practical volunteering habitat management out in the Heart of England Forest.

This autumn our volunteer teams are busy constructing palisade fences from hazel timber, using materials cut and gathered from one of our woodlands.

These fences will help protect orchard trees across the Forest, allowing our conservation grazers to graze freely while preventing damage to our valuable fruit trees.

Join us as we transform raw hazel poles into sturdy, practical fencing for the Heart of England Forest. If you are handy with a hammer, this is the activity for you!

Spend time in the natural environment, learn new skills, keep fit, and make new friends, with a social sit down at the end of each session.

These sessions are perfect for those who want to support the Forest but are unable to volunteer during the day or at weekends. Whether you can join just one session or all of them, your contribution will be greatly appreciated. There’s a specific focus on meeting new people and connecting with the environment, whilst helping to nurture the Forest.

This project is made possible by the National Lottery Heritage fund.

Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage. Afterhours Green Guardians is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to provide an innovative two-year evening volunteering programme designed to make conservation volunteering more accessible for working-age adults.
