Fancy bringing a little piece of the woodland indoors? Join us at Souter Lighthouse for our Autumn Inspired Terrarium Workshop, where you'll discover how to create your very own tiny world inside glass.

This relaxed, hands-on workshop is a gentle introduction to the world of closed terrariums, so whether you're a complete beginner or already have a growing collection of houseplants, you'll be warmly welcomed. We'll explore the different layers and substrates that create the right environment for a healthy terrarium, discover which plants are best suited to life under glass, and look at the design elements that help turn a collection of plants into a beautiful miniature landscape.

With an autumnal twist, you'll have a selection of plants and natural materials to work with, allowing you to create a terrarium inspired by the rich textures and changing colours of the season. I'll guide you step by step throughout, sharing tips and techniques while giving you plenty of opportunity to put your own creative stamp on your design.

And the best bit? Once your little ecosystem is planted and sealed, it becomes a wonderfully low-maintenance addition to your home. A garden that practically looks after itself—what's not to like? 🌿

Set against the magnificent coastal surroundings of Souter Lighthouse, this is the perfect opportunity to take some time out, get creative, and enjoy a few mindful hours exploring the world of plants.

Car parking charges apply at Souter Lighthouse for non-National Trust members.

We will be located in the Whitburn Coastal Conservation Centre beside Souter Lighthouse, not the actual Lighthouse.

This venue is fully accessible for all visitors, with step-free access throughout.
