Overview
This professional learning session is designed to support practitioners in understanding how children develop as early readers through oral language, vocabulary, storytelling, play and comprehension. The course explores early reading as a developmental process that goes beyond phonics alone, with a strong focus on authentic reading opportunities and play‑based learning.
Participants will consider how to create language‑rich environments, promote meaningful talk, and support early reading in ways that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the Curriculum for Wales.
