The Big Bike Revival offers learn-to-ride sessions for adults at Moredon Sporting Hub. These sessions focus on helping participants feel comfortable on a bike. Tickets are free.
Learn-to-ride sessions are free, fun and focused entirely on helping you feel comfortable on a bike.
These Learn to Ride sessions are part of The Big Bike Revival, a national programme from Cycling UK that helps adults build cycling confidence, one pedal at a time.
Whether you're learning to ride a bike for the very first time or returning to cycling after a long break, these friendly, supportive sessions are designed to help you feel safe, confident, and in control.
Training takes place on the traffic-free cycle track at Moredon Sporting Hub. When you arrive, you'll be welcomed by one of our qualified cycling coaches or friendly volunteers, who will guide you through the session at your own pace.
If you've never ridden before, we'll begin on balance bikes (bikes without pedals) to help you develop balance and confidence before introducing pedals. Everyone learns at their own pace—some people are pedalling within 20 minutes, while others may need to attend several sessions over a few weeks. There's no rush, and we'll support you every step of the way.
If you can already ride a bike, you're also welcome to join us. You can use our traffic-free track to practise your riding, improve your bike handling skills, build confidence, or receive personalised tips and coaching from our instructors.
Whether your goal is to learn from scratch, regain confidence, or simply become a more comfortable cyclist, we'd love to help you get riding.
Big Bike Revival:
Cycling UK sends participants surveys to evidence how free sessions help people cycle more often locally. Please complete these surveys to help us recieve funding to organise more free events in the future.
After events we submit participant's names and emails to Cycling UK and they'll send you:
Two short surveys. The first is sent shortly after your session, and the second 12 weeks later. They ask questions about cycling habits and optional demographic ones.
To support participants, they send inspirational emails to sustain cycling levels. You can opt-out at any time, these are not marketing emails.
