The Community Wetlands Forum launches its new insurance guide.

The Community Wetlands Forusm is delighted to announce the launch of our latest publication for members, A Practical Insurance Guide for Community Wetland Groups.

Insurance is essential to protect community groups from costly claims that may arise in the event of injury, loss, damage to property or other incidents that occur on sites they manage or during the course of work being undertaken by volunteers. While this is a major issue, having appropriate insurance in place, supported by improved Health & Safety practices, will ultimately minimise risk and protect community groups from expensive claims.

This new guide, based on a seminar hosted by CWF in 2025, contains specialist insurance advice from experts Colm Croffy (Chairperson of Association of Irish Festivals and Events and freelance community development and events specialist), Duncan Gawthorpe (Trails and Insurance specialist at Sport Ireland), and Dr. Francis Mackin (Sector Director at Tetra Tech and specialist in raised and blanket bog restoration).

Robert Troy TD, Minister of State at the Department of Finance, will officially launch the guide on the boardwalk at Cloncrow Bog and Village Trail, Tyrrellspass Castle, County Westmeath on 30 November.
