The event will showcase the work of the Sound Interactions in the Metaverse Centre for Doctoral Training PhD students.

Join us at CoSTAR Live Lab for this one-day symposium showcasing emerging research from the Sound Interactions in the Metaverse (SIM) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) PhD students.

Sitting within the world-leading AudioLab at the University of York and centred on the development of immersive and interactive technologies, the SIM CDT utilises York’s international network of audio and related expertise around the metaverse, and collaborative interdisciplinary working. It encompasses a breadth of topics rooted in audio engineering, communications, computer science, gaming, music, arts, education, psychology, linguistics and health sciences. Each project has industry support, with partners including L-Acoustics, Sony Interactive, BBC and many more.

AudioLab Alumnus Chris Pike will start the day with a Keynote outlining his own research and the value of academic research to industry. Chris is a senior audio researcher at Sonos Inc. and has previously worked at BBC Research and Development, leading work on immersive and interactive audio experiences. Then, through a mixture of presentations, posters, and demonstrations, current SIM CDT students will provide an overview of their own cutting-edge research.

This workshop will take place at CoSTAR Live Lab, which is based at Production Park in South Kirkby, WF9 3NR. Free car parking is available to the front of the Production Park reception.
