About This Event

'A Plant Mad Garden' is a lecture featuring Alan Pratt at Tatton Park in Knutsford, Cheshire, where he will share insights from his extensive horticultural career. This event is set for 4 October 2026 and is free for members, with admission required for non-members.

A highly respected garden consultant, Alan is currently working on plant identification at Kew Gardens and is responsible for plant labelling at the celebrated Gresgarth Garden in Lancashire. His impressive horticultural career spans more than 40 years and includes serving as a member of the Royal Horticultural Society Trials Committee, as well as chairing one of its prestigious plant trials.

Alan is a former holder of the National Fritillaria Collection and co-author of The Gardener's Guide to Growing Fritillarias. He has appeared on BBC Gardeners' World, featured in the RHS Garden Magazine, and was awarded an RHS Gold Medal in 2006. With decades of lecturing experience, he is sure to offer a fascinating and entertaining insight into the world of plants.

There will also be an opportunity to purchase a selection of rare plants brought along by Alan.

The talk is free to members, just show your membership card at the Tatton Park entrances for free parking in the main car park.

The talk is £5 for non-members. (Parkland vehicle entry fee applies to all non members including National Trust members)
