Doors at 7.00, show at 7.30 - Be the first to hear new material from two top acts. The first of a series of big-name comedy nights!

Welcome to Temperance Comedy Club!

This time we're hosting two acts from the top drawer - we've managed to attract some very big names who want to hone their material for Edinburgh. We'll be unveiling the others soon, but we start with the enormous Pear and the glum Eli Hart. This is very exciting!

Pear: Work in Progress

“Effortlessly funny” The Independent. Top Ten Best Reviewed Shows of the Edinburgh Fringe 2024 and 2025, Pear are six-foot-seven identical twins Hugo and Patrick McPherson, working on their brand-new 2027 show. Expect “a riotously fun night out” (Mumble Comedy), “relentlessly packed with jokes” (Three Weeks), and full of madcap sketches and comedy chaos.

Eli Hart: Work in Progress

Eli Hart is a comedian from the West Midlands, whose gloomy, astute comedy about the mundanity of life has quickly established him as a regular on pro bills across the UK. He won the 2025 BBC New Comedy Awards, was a finalist in the Komedia New Comedy Award 2025, reached the finals of Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year 2024 and was part of the prestigious Pleasance Reserve 2026 cohort at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

“A remarkable astuteness about the minutiae of mundane existence” – Chortle

“An eye for a funny image and and ear for a funny phrase” – Beyond the Joke

“Imagine a Brummie, even gloomier young Jack Dee” – Beyond the joke

“Eli Hart wears glum disappointment with pride, with a downbeat deadpan that suits his West Midlands accent so well.” – Chortle
