AquaEASE conducts its Train the Trainer session at Kingfisher Club in Waterford on 29 September 2026.
Learn how to adapt your aqua aerobics class for people living with chronic conditions
AquaEASE Train the Trainer
More than an Aqua Aerobics Class
AquaEASE is a therapeutic, instructor-led programme designed specifically for people living with chronic pain. Unlike a traditional aqua aerobics class, trainers are in the water alongside participants, providing reassurance, guidance and individual support to help build confidence, reduce fear of movement and make exercise feel safe, achievable and enjoyable.
The AquaEASE Train the Trainer has been developed to equip fitness professionals, swimming teachers and aquatic instructors with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to safely deliver this unique programme.
Many people living with chronic pain experience anxiety around movement, fear of exercise or a lack of confidence in the water. AquaEASE harnesses the unique properties of water to reduce pain, improve mobility and encourage movement in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Throughout the practical training, you will be in the water, learning how to guide and support participants as they move through exercises at their own pace. Rather than simply leading a fitness class from the poolside, you'll learn how to work alongside participants, providing encouragement, reassurance and individual adaptations to help them feel safe, confident and successful.
This person-centred approach is what makes AquaEASE different. The focus isn't on intensity or performance, it's about building confidence, improving movement, promoting independence and helping people rediscover the joy of being active in the water.
During the training you will learn:
How to adapt aqua exercises safely for people living with chronic pain.
Practical techniques for supporting participants in the water.
How to build confidence and reduce fear of movement through encouragement and reassurance.
Strategies for creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
How to deliver a therapeutic AquaEASE session that focuses on improving movement, wellbeing and quality of life.
Who should attend?
This training is ideal for:
Aqua Aerobics Instructors
Swimming Teachers
Fitness Professionals
Leisure Centre Staff
Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants
Physical Activity Coordinators
Anyone with experience delivering physical activity in an aquatic environment who wants to make a real difference to the lives of people living with chronic pain.
By the end of the training...
You'll leave with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to deliver an AquaEASE programme that supports people living with chronic pain to move with greater confidence, improve their wellbeing and enjoy the many physical and psychological benefits of exercising in water.
