A Bereavement Information Event for parents whose child has died. For all bereaved parents, regardless of their child's age or circumstances Come join us for an evening of gentle support and evidence-based information for parents navigating the death of a child. Your grief is your own, and nobody else had the special relationship you had with your own child. Still, we recognise that learning about the uniqueness of parental grief has helped many parents understand their own journey. These Information Evenings are supported by a professional in grief and bereavement. Our guest speaker is Brid Carroll. Originally from a teaching background Brid is a qualified Psychotherapist and Supervisor with a special interest in bereavement and loss. Brid holds a Degree in Counselling Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and a Masters in Bereavement Studies from RCSI Dublin and a Postgraduate Certificate in Childhood Bereavement from St. Christopher’s Hospice London. She holds a Certificate in the Sacred Art of Living and Dying. Brid has previously worked as Bereavement Liaison Officer with the HSE in the South East region. She is presently working as a Bereavement Educator and Researcher helping with bereavement service evaluation, training and information development with various bereavement support organisations across Ireland. She is a contributor to the Irish Hospice Foundation’s workshop series and has co-ordinated the Professional Certificate in Children and Loss with the Royal College of Surgeons and the Irish Hospice Foundation for over 15 years until 2021. Brid is currently the Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Irish Childhood Bereavement Network and a member of the Steering Committee of the Family Bereavement Network of Europe. She provides training, information talks and online webinars on grief and loss for professionals and bereaved parents throughout Ireland. Brid has accompanied many parents, families and children who are facing death or grieving the loss of their child, parent, partner or sibling over the past 30 years. Whether you are looking for information, community, or resources, this event is for you. Anam Cara is an all Island organisation that supports bereaved parents. Anam Cara's online and face to face services are available to all parents regardless of age or circumstances of their child's death and are available for as long as they are needed.
