A hands-on photography experience exploring a beautiful waterfall location, where you’ll learn how to capture stunning waterfall images with practical guidance on camera settings, composition and long-exposure photography.

Throughout the day, you’ll receive friendly, hands-on tuition and plenty of opportunities to put what you’ve learned into practice. We’ll look at how to choose the right shutter speed, aperture and ISO, how to create smooth, flowing water using long exposures, and how composition can help you create more compelling images.

By the end of the experience, you’ll have had the opportunity to capture some beautiful long-exposure waterfall photographs, along with practical knowledge, tips and techniques that you can take away and use on your own future photography trips.

Small Group Experience

The experience is limited to 6 participants to ensure everyone receives plenty of personal guidance, time to ask questions and hands-on support throughout the day.

Meeting Point

We will meet at 10:00am at the bottom of the driveway for Rivington and Blackrod High School. From there, we will make our way together to the waterfall location.

What You’ll Need

To get the most from the day, you’ll ideally need:

• A camera with manual controls

• A sturdy tripod

• A shutter-release option, such as a cable release or the ability to trigger your camera via a phone app

• A set of filters or a variable ND filter

• Appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather

• Suitable footwear for uneven and potentially slippery ground

If you intend to enter the water to capture photographs, waterproof footwear such as wellies or suitable waterproof shoes is recommended.

Weather Conditions

As this is an outdoor photography experience, the event is weather dependent.

If light rain is forecast, the experience may still go ahead. Participants should ensure they have a suitable method of keeping their camera and equipment dry, such as a rain cover or other appropriate camera protection. If your camera and lens are weather sealed, this provides additional protection, but you should still take appropriate precautions in wet conditions.

If heavy rain is forecast, the event will not go ahead. This is due to safety concerns, as reaching the waterfall involves walking over uneven and potentially slippery surfaces, which can become particularly hazardous in wet conditions.

If the event needs to be postponed or cancelled due to weather conditions, participants will be contacted in advance with details of the alternative arrangements.
