Recognised as one of the great Water Gardens of the world, The John Lewis Partnership now manages the garden in the spirit in which John Spedan Lewis intended.
Longstock Park Water Garden is a great place to visit whether you’re a keen gardener, seasoned horticulturist or you’re visiting Hampshire and want to explore this hidden gem.
Once a private garden for the founder of the John Lewis Partnership, it has been pristinely maintained and hosts a world class selection of Horticulture. At Longstock Park (approx 1 mile from the Water Gardens) you will also find a farm shop and café selling local and regional produce.
Please note the following information regarding your visit to ensure you make the most of your time here:
Water Garden Opening Times 2026
Open 1st April - 31st October
Mondays - closed all day
Tuesdays - Sundays: 10:00am - 4:00pm
The Garden will be open on Monday 4th May
Tickets:
Adults £10
Children aged 6-16: £5
Children aged 5 and under: free
Carers accompanying their client are free.
Access
Wheelchair access is available to most areas, but please be aware that our pathways are made of an irregular surface and not smooth. Some islands can only be reached over a narrow bridge.
We have fully accessible toilets, plus baby-changing facilities. The gravel paths around the garden are wide and flat, although they can be a bit bumpy in places for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There are plenty of benches, and a small summer house with information and photos of the garden’s history. There is limited shelter in wet weather.
Groups
We are very happy to welcome groups of any size, including coach parties. Please contact us for specific information if you’d like to bring a group to the garden.
There is free parking directly opposite the gardens for cars and minibuses.
Booking in advance is possible through Eventbrite but not necessary. We are happy to take payment at the gate.
There is no charge for Carers accompanying clients. Carers may be asked to show their ID.
For security reasons we can’t accept cash at the garden, although you are welcome to use cash at our farm shop, cafe and nursery.
We don’t have a cafe within the garden, but we do sell cold drinks and a small range of biscuits and crisps.
We regret that dogs are not allowed in the water garden or park at any time, with the exception of assistance dogs.
