In this half-day workshop you will learn the specialist technique of paint effect finish. You will discover the techniques and equipment to enhance any item in your home; furniture, decor, art, or walls and ceilings, led by Ian Newman, BA (Hons), MA. Conservation, Restoration and Decorative Arts

Ian has worked on projects in stately homes as well as on many private commissions, (both large and small!). Over a number of years Ian has applied these specialist skills to walls and a lot of furniture! He has worked with interior designers producing custom made decor, including kitchen glass splashbacks. Ian has also restored and transformed many treasured pieces of furniture for clients and customers using non-intrusive techniques as much as a possible, to maintain the integrity of the item.

Once you have mastered the basics from this workshop you will have the confidence to try this out and experiment with your own colours and textures at home.

The day

Arrive prompt for 9.00 start

Ian will share his experience on paint effect finishes including colourwashes, marbling and woodwash effects.

You will be shown how to evaluate the surface preparation required.

You will then practise the techniques on boards to take home with you.

All tools and equipment will be provided and are included in the workshop fees. Refreshments are provided through the morning (please bring your own dietary requirements)

This workshop is set in the warm, friendly and picturesque surroundings of Sandydown, Stockbridge , located in the heart of Test Valley.

We keep the groups small to ensure you receive one to one instruction for much of the time.
