Practical mobile content creation for businesses

Most businesses already have a powerful content-creation tool in their pocket. The challenge is knowing what to capture, how to make it look and sound better, and how to turn it into content they can actually use.

Delivered by Pete Malloy of Studio 77, Content in Your Pocket is a practical four-hour workshop designed to help business owners and people responsible for marketing or social media create better video and photography using the smartphone they already have.

This isn't a photography-only session or a marketing seminar. The emphasis is on practical content creation.

During the workshop, participants will learn how to:

Identify useful content opportunities within their business

Set up their phone for better video and photography

Improve framing and composition

Make better use of available light

Improve audio when filming people

Capture wide, medium and close-up shots

Create useful B-roll and shot variety

Use movement and slow motion more effectively

Capture video and photography from the same content opportunity

Edit short-form video using a straightforward CapCut workflow

Add text, captions, audio, music and simple branding

Build a realistic approach to creating content consistently

A major part of the session will be practical. Participants will work in pairs to capture their own material before individually editing a short piece of content on their phone.

The aim is that people don't just leave with notes and ideas. They leave having actually put the techniques into practice.

By the end of the workshop, we want participants to be able to say:

Who is it for?

The workshop is suitable for business owners, marketing staff and anyone responsible for creating day-to-day content for their organisation.

No professional camera equipment or previous production experience is required. The workshop is designed around using the smartphone participants already have.

This workshop is fully funded through South Staffordshire Council's Community and Business Investment Fund, making it free for eligible South Staffordshire businesses to attend.
