A pivotal moment came at Expo 58 in Brussels, when he acquired a work by Henry Moore, igniting a lifelong commitment to living artists whose work challenged convention. Serving in Spain under Francisco Franco, George collected radical works even as he navigated delicate diplomacy.

Returning to Dudmaston, he shaped a legacy rooted in friendship, patronage and public access.
