Children can make a new outfit for their favourite teddy using reclaimed fabric, then celebrate with a cosy Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
Bring your favourite teddy bear and your imagination for a delightful morning or afternoon of sewing and creative fun.
Join Reinvntd CIC, Stitchety at Cup of Joy for a special Teddy Bear’s Picnic & Sewing Workshop, taking place as part of Sustainable Fashion Week Hub Wolverhampton.
Guided step by step by textile artist Kate Tilley from Stitchety, children will learn simple hand-sewing skills and use colourful reclaimed fabrics to create a brand-new outfit for their teddy bear.
Children will be introduced to sewing in a supportive and age-appropriate way, learning how to join and decorate fabric while discovering how unwanted textiles can be transformed into something new.
No previous sewing experience is required. All sewing materials, equipment, templates, threads and reclaimed fabrics will be provided. Children simply need to bring their own teddy bear and plenty of imagination.
Once the outfits are complete, children and their teddies will come together for a cosy Teddy Bear’s Picnic featuring sandwiches, refreshments and sweet treats. It will be a lovely opportunity to celebrate everyone’s handmade creations.
Choose from two sessions:
Morning session: 10:00am–1:00pm
Afternoon session: 2:00pm–5:00pm
The workshop is suitable for children aged six and over. Every child must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout the event.
