Wildlife phootgraphy starts long before you press the shutter.
This practical small-group workshop is designed to help you become more confident finding wildlife, reading the habita, understanding animal behaviour and positioning yourself for stronger phootgraphs.
Rather than focusing only on camera settings, we'll work on fieldcraft and decision-making that help you create better wildlife images in real situations.
During the workshop, we'll move slowly along the Canal, stopping regularly to observe wildlife, discuss what we're seeing and work through practical phootgraphy exercises.
You'll have time to phootgraph independantly, ask questions and receive individual guidance throughout the afternoon.
The group is limited to six photographers, keeping the session practical, relaxed and personal.

Who is the workshop for?
This workshop is for beginner and intermediate photographers
You do not need professional equipment, and you do not need to be completely confident using your camera in manual mode.
If you have a camera you want to understand better, aswell as an interest in wildlife photography, you will be most welcome.
What to bring
Camera
Suitable lens for wildlife photography
Spare battery
Memory card
Weather-appropriate clothing
Comfortable, practical footwear
Water or another drink
Small snack, optional
Notebook, optional
A long Telephoto lens is not essential.
Wildlife sightings
This is a field-based wildlife workshop, sightings of any specific animals cannot be guaranteed.
The focus is on learning how to find, observe and photograph whatever wildlife is naturally present on the day.
Previous workshops along the canal have produced oportunities to photograph, waterfowl, moorhens, herons, egrets, songbirds and other urban wildlife.
Physical requirements
The workshop involves several hours outdoors and walking along canal paths, with regular stops for photography and observation.
If you have mobility concerns or other requirements, please contact me before bookings so we can discuss whether the route will be suitable.
Weather and cancelations
The workshop will normally run in light rain and changeable weather.
If conditions are unsafe or unsuitable and I need to cancel the session, participants will be oggered a reschedules date or a refund.
Participant cancellations will be subject to the booking terms shown at checkout.
About your Tutor
I am a West-Midlands based wildlife filmmaker and photographer. I have a strong background in fieldcraft and have learnt animal behavious and storytelling skills over years behind the camera lens.
My teaching focuses on helping photographers of all abilities understanding wildlife and their behaviours, as well as how to select and learn your camera settings.
