Elgar’s Violin Sonata in E Minor is a deeply personal composition, written during his last major creative period, it was described by Elgar himself as ‘full of golden sounds’. To hear this work performed by Alex Postlethwaite and John Moore in the setting of Elgar’s birthplace: an emotional touchstone for Elgar throughout his life, will be an unforgettable experience. The concert will begin with a performance of Franck’s Violin Sonata in A Major: a tender, tempestuous, teasing conversation between violin and piano, this work is presented by Alex and John with their trademark flair.
