Selby Abbey is inviting the public to a complimentary guided tour on Saturday, 19 September, commencing at 10:30 AM. Those wishing to join should assemble inside the West Door of the magnificent Abbey where their guide will be waiting. This special tour promises a fascinating journey through the rich history of Selby Abbey, a site of significant importance as the very first monastery founded in Northern England following the Norman Conquest. Over the course of approximately 75 minutes, participants will be treated to an exploration of the Abbey's remarkable architectural heritage. The tour will draw attention to the stunning examples of both Romanesque and Gothic styles that define this venerable building, showcasing the centuries of craftsmanship and devotion invested in its construction. While the tour itself is free of charge, visitors will have the opportunity to make donations, should they wish, to support the ongoing preservation and upkeep of this historic landmark.
