About This Event

Reaching audiences for film and arts events with Blackpool Film Festival. Showing films to audiences is a real thrill, especially when you do it with a full house, creating really special memories in your community. But how can you reach people when you don't have an existing connection, or they're not traditionally engaged in the arts? In this session, cinema worker Duncan Carson will look closely at different ways you can find audiences, speak to them so they'll listen and keep them engaged long-term. We'll look at: What do you need to do to try to gather people together for art events? How can you reach people in an increasingly oversaturated media environment? How do people decide what to do with their free time? How do you encourage people to consider new experiences? What do you need to do at events to make sure people come back? This informal session has been designed for people hosting film events/screenings, but will also be useful for anyone producing arts events. It's open to programmers, producers, and event organisers of all experience levels. We'll ask you to briefly describe a project, event or area of work where you would like to receive advice. Cost - donation to Blackpool Film Festival Please note that during signup, we'll ask you to briefly tell us about an event, project or area of work where you would like advice.
