What's Happening?
The film features footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing, which brought together leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics, national security and nature.
It presents a clear, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain, and what the evidence says about risks and responses.
The initiative is explicitly non-partisan and is supported by a wide range of organisations including National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union, and many more.
For businesses, these issues are not abstract. They increasingly affect supply chains, insurance costs, workforce health, infrastructure reliability, energy prices, food systems and long-term investment stability.
The purpose of the Briefing is to support informed democratic discussion and ensure that public institutions, businesses and communities share a common understanding of the scale and urgency of the challenge - and the economic opportunities that flow from responding at pace.
Following the 50-minute film, we will host a 45-minute structured local discussion focused on what this means for businesses in our area - including resilience, competitiveness and forward planning.
Who's Invited?
Everyone is invited of course! The idea around the screenings is to get as many people to watch and share as possible. This specific screening will be hosted at Aunty Social in Blackpool, a hub of creativity and community so we hope to spark conversations that are particularly prominent to the arts and cultures sector of Blackpool.
About NEB
The NEB aims to create a social tipping point towards genuine emergency action on the climate and nature crisis. The People’s Emergency Briefing film - and the communities that screen it - are the catalyst for this.
The aim is simple: screenings everywhere, for everyone. Thisguide helps you bring the film to your community – and seed additional screenings as a result.
Screenings are followed by a facilitated discussion, creating a calm, inclusive and non-judgmental civic space where diverse audiences can engage seriously with the evidence, connect locally, and build a shared sense of understanding, confidence and practical agency.
Where possible, communities and their elected representatives are invited to take part together.
