A 6-session course with Becky Edmunds for anyone who enjoys stitching but would like to move beyond following kits and instructions. Over 6 sessions, this course explores a way of designing embroidery that begins with the act of stitching itself. Rather than creating a design first and then translating it through stitch, we will allow designs to emerge naturally through the process of making. By working with colour, texture, rhythm, and the movement, scale, and direction of individual stitches, you will explore how ideas can develop through experimentation and discover your own expressive approach to stitched design. Each week you will learn a series of stitches or techniques and then explore them in depth, experimenting with how they change depending on the choices you make. Each attendee will receive a stitch book in which they can explore their unique design ideas, and there will be a wide range of books and magazines available to borrow from Becky's library. All materials will be provided, including a cotton stitch book, embroidery hoop, needles, threads, and fabrics. You don't need previous embroidery experience to join. This course is ideal for anyone who enjoys stitching but would like to move beyond following kits and instructions. It offers the opportunity to explore your own creative path and discover how your ideas can grow through the process of making. NOTE: THE FULL COST OF THE COURSE IS £160 - RESERVE YOUR PLACE TODAY WITH A £30 DEPOSIT.
