About This Event

The LEVA Duty Holders Awareness Day is a professional development event for those responsible for LEV use in manufacturing. It will be held at Engineers House on 16th September 2026 starting at 08:30. Attendance is free.

One-day professional development event created specifically for those with legal and operational responsibility for LEV use in manufacturing

A practical, independent development day for LEV Duty Holders

Are you responsible for managing Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems in your workplace?

The Duty Holder Development Day is a one-day professional development event created specifically for those with legal and operational responsibility for LEV use in manufacturing processes — not suppliers, not salespeople, and not product demonstrations.

This is not a sales event and is not intended for LEV contractors, manufacturers, and commercial exhibitors.

The workshop will instead be delivered by a collective of independent industry experts who are committed to reducing the risk of work-related ill health and improving standards across UK workplaces. Presentations will also be given by the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The focus is simple: clarity, competence, and confidence for Duty Holders.

What the day is about

Managing LEV systems can be complex, and duty holders are expected to:

Understand their legal responsibilities.

Procure competent suppliers.

Assess whether systems are fit for purpose.

Challenge poor advice or sub-standard work.

Maintain compliance over the life of the system.

Yet many Duty Holders have to make these decisions without sufficient knowledge or practical and impartial guidance.

This development day provides you with access to advice from experts, who will illustrate this using real-world case studies. There will be time for open questions and discussion, to support delegates understand what “good” actually looks like in LEV design, testing, maintenance, and ongoing management.

You will learn how to:

· Confidently engage with LEV suppliers and contractors.

· Understand what good looks like in LEV design, testing, and maintenance.

· Navigate the LEV buying process, including TR40.

· Recognise legal responsibilities and compliance essentials.

· Explore real-time monitoring of air quality to better assess LEV and other control measures.

· Learn from real case studies where things went wrong — and how they could have been prevented.

· Ask your most pressing questions in open, interactive Q&A sessions.
