Rituals of Remembering - Autumn Equinox Day Retreat
We are delighted to bring back another Rituals of Remembering gathering for the Autumn Equinox this September.
A full day of yoga, nature connection, sauna, ritual, and rest. For anyone who is feeling the need to come together with like-minded souls, surrounded by trees, bird song and spend a day honouring the changing season.
Rituals of Remembering is about reminding ourselves that we are part of the natural world and its cycles. The Autumn Equinox has long been celebrated as a time to gather around and celebrate the balance between day and night.
We will eat delicious food, enjoy community gathering, move our bodies and participate in ritual as a way of coming back to our rooted human experience.
Places are LIMITED, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Who is it for?
People looking to celebrate the equinox with a small intimate group, connect with nature, sweat it out in the sauna, enjoy embodied movement, and storytelling. You can be a total novice at yoga or someone who’s practiced for years as options will always be given to suit different bodies.
The event will be a mixture of indoors and outdoors, so you need to be comfortable with the weather that Bristol can throw at us. Yoga sessions will take place indoors. Regretfully the site is not accessible for wheelchairs users.
Timings
Arrival: 9.30am arrival and teas.
10-11.30am: Morning yoga
11.45-12.45: Nature immersion/silent meditation
1-2.30pm: Lunch and free time
2.30-3.30pm: Sauna @ Fire & Ice
3.45-6pm: Ritual ceremony to mark the equinox, evening yin yoga and yoga nidra
What to expect
We will celebrate the balance of sun and moon moving from an energising morning practice into calming rest at the end of the day.
Starting with a dynamic yoga practice with Carrie, where you can expect to warm the body through movement and calm the mind with a focus on the breath. Options and variations are given to suit different bodies and energies. This will be followed with embodied enquiry and meditation as we head outdoors to spend time in the woods in silence.
We break our silence and enjoy our time as a community as we come together for delicious, seasonal food cooked by amazing chef Chelsea Dow from the Nettle Kitchen.
After lunch, we will head to the wood fired sauna at Fire & Ice, surrounded by beautiful trees and next to a wild swimming pool and ice baths.
Once we've dried off, we shall spend the later afternoon enjoying our Equinox ritual in the woods (or indoors if the weather turns on us) before heading into the yoga shala again for our Yin Yoga and Nidra with Ellie. This truly restful and deeply nourishing yoga will leave you feeling calm and grounded into the shifting seasonal energy as we head towards Autumn.
We will close with a shared creative practice and reflections before saying our goodbyes.

Ellie Snowden is a yoga teacher, massage therapist, coach and workshop facilitator based in Bristol. Her teaching style centres on slow, somatic practices that encourage people to tune in and listen to the subtleties of body-mind in motion. She loves creating spaces where people can come together, share their experiences and find something new in each other's company. Growing up hiking the Welsh mountains with her family gave her a deep love of the outdoors and a lasting sense that nature has a lot to teach us if we slow down enough to notice.
