La nueva edición del FORO CERVANTES 2026 contará con el autor David Uclés en conversacion con el profesor Isaías Fanlo (Universidad de Cambridge).

David Uclés (Úbeda, 1990), licenciado en Traducción e Interpretación, es escritor, músico, ilustrador y traductor. Ha trabajado como profesor de español, alemán, francés e inglés en diversos países y actualmente colabora con La Vanguardia, El País, Diario Jaén y la cadena SER. Nacido en Úbeda, fue nombrado Hijo Predilecto de la ciudad en 2025. Con su novela La ciudad de las luces muertas (Destino, 2026) obtuvo el Premio Nadal.

Su tercera novela, La península de las casas vacías (Siruela, 2024), se convirtió en un fenómeno internacional con más de 500.000 ejemplares vendidos. Fue uno de los libros más vendidos de 2024 y 2025 y ha sido traducida a 19 idiomas, entre ellos francés, alemán, italiano y portugués. Por esta obra recibió el Premio Cálamo al Libro del Año 2024, el Premio de la Crítica de Andalucía, el Premio Espartaco a la Mejor Novela Histórica, el Premio Dulce Chacón, el Premio San Clemente, el Premio Kelvin 505 a la Mejor Novela Fantástica, el Premio a la Mejor Novela del Festival 42 y el Premio Andalucía de la Cultura. Asimismo, fue la candidatura española al Premio de Literatura de la Unión Europea 2025 y finalista de la Bienal Vargas Llosa. En 2024, Babelia la eligió como la mejor novela española del año. Además, la obra será adaptada al cine.

También ha publicado las novelas Emilio y Octubre (Dos Bigotes) y El llanto del león (Premio Complutense de Literatura 2019), y ha sido distinguido con la Beca Leonardo, la Ayuda del Ministerio de Cultura para la Creación Literaria y la Beca Montserrat Roig. El realismo mágico ocupa un lugar central en su obra.

Con su última novela, La ciudad de las luces muertas (Destino, 2026), recibió el prestigioso Premio Nadal.

He has worked as a Spanish, German, French and English teacher in various countries and now writes for La Vanguardia, El País, Diario Jaén, and La SER. Born in Úbeda, he was named the city’s hijo predilecto (distinguished native) in 2025. With his novel La ciudad de las luces muertas (Destino, 2026) he received the Nadal Award.

His third novel, La península de las casas vacías (Siruela, 2024), became an international phenomenon with more than 500.000 copies sold, becoming one of the bestsellers of 2024 and 2025 and 19 translations including French, German, Italian and Portuguese.
