About the Event

To mark the 35th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence we invite Ukrainians, British friends of Ukraine and the wider Cambridge community to an Official Commemorative Gathering in the heart of Cambridge.

This will be an evening of reflection, dignity, pride, gratitude and unity.

We will come together to honour those who have given their lives and health defending Ukraine, and those who continue to defend their homeland against Russian aggression.

It will also be an opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the British people for their support of Ukraine, for opening their homes and providing safety to Ukrainian women and children, and for the friendship and solidarity that Ukrainians and British people have built together here in Cambridge.

🇺🇦 PROGRAMME

We will begin at 18:00 on King’s Parade, in front of King’s College, with a tribute to the National Flag of Ukraine — a symbol of our resilience, freedom and hope.

The commemorative gathering will continue with invited speakers addressing important issues concerning Ukraine today, its struggle for freedom and independence, and the importance of international solidarity.

🎶 A short musical programme will follow, featuring Ukrainian music and patriotic performances.

The gathering will conclude with patriotic slogans and the National Anthem of Ukraine.

TWELVE YEARS OF WAR

For twelve years, Ukraine has been resisting Russian aggression and defending its freedom, sovereignty and right to exist as an independent European nation.

On this important anniversary, we invite Ukrainians and Britons to stand together — in remembrance, solidarity and gratitude.

Please join us for this meaningful evening in the heart of Cambridge.

❤️ SUPPORT “MISTO DOBRA” — CITY OF KINDNESS

The Ukrainian HAM Centre also invites you to support Misto Dobra (“City of Kindness”), a centre in Chernivtsi providing care and palliative support for seriously ill children, led by Marta Levchenko.

A voluntary charitable collection will take place during the event.

The funds raised will be transferred to Misto Dobra to help prepare its hospital and shelter facilities for the difficult winter period, including facilities for children evacuated from two residential institutions in Odesa and Mykolaiv.

Every contribution can bring warmth, safety and hope to a child.
