About This Event

Concrete Gazebo presents a collaborative music and deep listening event at Friends Meeting House in Cambridge on 19 September 2026. Performances will include audience participation and are free to attend.

The event will involve performances by members of Concrete Gazebo with opportunities for audience participation, using voice and instruments

Concrete Gazebo are a mostly Cambridge (UK)-based collective of musicians who improvise together. They have also been organising the free, open-to-all improvisation nights, Under The Concrete Gazebo, at various venues in and around Cambridge since 2018. The line-up of Concrete Gazebo on recordings is constantly in flux, with players dropping in and out depending on the sessions and others preferring to focus entirely on live performance.

The event will involve performances by members of Concrete Gazebo with opportunities for audience participation, using voice and instruments provided by the collective. There will also be the opportunity to take part in facilitated Deep Listening exercises. Deep Listening is a form of meditative sonic practice pioneered by composer Pauline Oliveros that asks the listener to go beyond hearing, actively listening to and engaging with their acoustic environment. This will be an event based on fostering empathy and receptiveness through mindful engagement with sound and the lived environment.
