How does the planning system actually work, and where can communities have a say?
This presentation provides an accessible introduction to the planning system, exploring how it has developed over time, how Local Plans are prepared, how decisions on individual planning applications are made, and the opportunities available for public participation.
Using examples from Cambridge throughout, the presentation is particularly timely head of the upcoming final consultation on the Greater Cambridge Local Plan.
It provides useful background to help residents understand how the Local Plan shapes future development and how they can engage effectively with the consultation process
Who this is for
Anyone who lives, works or spends time in Cambridge. No background in architecture or planning is needed. The session is equally open to residents and community groups, to planners, architects and council officers, and to students and researchers.
Booking
Free, but places are limited and registration is required. Please release your ticket if you can no longer attend, so that someone else can take the place.
Finding us
The Cambridge Room is a shopfront unit inside the Grafton Centre, opposite Decathlon. Enter from Fitzroy Street and walk straight in. Look for the Community Design Research Lab signage in the window.
