A group exhibition at Cambridge Artspace, bringing together Maisy Aykroyd, Theo Panagopoulos and Sid White Jones.
The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing asks how we remember, commemorate and reconcile with the past. Bringing together the practices of Maisy Aykroyd, Theo Panagopoulos and Sid White Jones, the exhibition takes flowers as a central motif across moving image, photography and printmaking.
The exhibition explores the role of ephemera as a vital historical resource, documenting personal and communal histories that are often buried, overlooked or left behind. Drawing on archival footage from public collections, discarded photographs recovered from house clearances, and foraged flowers and foliage, each artist uncovers and reworks these materials through processes of collection, preservation and transformation.
Reflecting on the fragile materials through which memory is held and transmitted, The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing considers how ephemeral traces can offer more nuanced ways of representing and understanding memory, heritage and the past.
The project is generously supported by The Arts Society.
