Beginners Sewing Workshop
Hosted by Repair Cafe Wales in partnership with University of South Wales
When: 5–7pm, Thursday 24th September
Where: CAD405, Fashion Department, University of South Wales, Atrium Campus, 86-88 Adam Street, Cardiff CF24 2FN
Cost: Free
This free workshop is designed for complete beginners and will give you the confidence to pick up a needle and thread (or sit down at a sewing machine) for the first time.
Over two hours, you'll get an introduction to using a sewing machine alongside essential hand sewing skills. You'll then be guided through cutting a pattern for either a tote bag or a sewing kit pouch (your choice!) ready to take home and complete in your own time.
Every participant will leave with their pattern pieces and a beginners sewing kit to keep, so you can carry on practising after the workshop ends.
Time permitting, you'll also have the chance to chat with our expert repairers and pick up tips and advice on clothing and textile repairs.
No experience necessary; just bring your enthusiasm!
