About This Event

Signs of dormice: how to establish presence, and ID some of the signs left behind! Join us for a woodland walk to search for hazelnuts and the signs that indicate what might be eating them! 🐭 We will take you through how to identify hazel trees and hazelnuts, and the signs of dormice and other small mammal activity, 🐭 Dormice are one of our rarest small mammals and very hard to find in the wild. Luckily, dormice leave tell-tale signs when they eat hazelnuts – one of their favourite foods! 🐭 By searching for these nut shells it is possible to find out where dormice live in order to protect them in the future. There is the opportunity to take and use these skills in other locations after the sessions, including on our footprint monitoring schemes, 🐭 This is an outdoor event so please wear suitable shoes and clothing. All ages and abilities welcome but please let us know if you need any particular support.
