A casual co-working session for PhD researchers in Cardiff.

Doing a PhD can be wonderfully exciting — but it can also be surprisingly lonely.

So, let’s work together.

Cardiff PhD Collective is a new, informal community bringing together PhD researchers and doctoral students from across Cardiff — regardless of university, discipline or stage of the PhD.

Come along for a relaxed co-working session where you can:

☕ Work alongside other PhD researchers

📚 Make progress on whatever you’re currently working on

💬 Have a chat and meet fellow researchers during breaks

🌱 Connect with people outside your own university and department

There are no presentations, no academic networking, and no expectation to be particularly sociable.

You can come on your own, sit quietly and work for three hours, chat over coffee, or do a bit of both. It’s completely up to you.

Feel free to stop by for 20 minutes or the whole session. PhD life rarely goes according to schedule anyway😉

Who is it for?

Anyone doing a PhD or doctorate in Cardiff — from any university, institution, discipline or stage of research.

Whether you’re three months in, writing up, somewhere in the middle and wondering what on earth you’re doing, or finally approaching the finish line: you’re welcome.

Wales Millennium Centre

We’ll meet in the café at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay.

A little note

This is a brand-new community, so the first few gatherings will be intentionally small and informal. There is absolutely no pressure to network or “make the most” of the event.

Just bring yourself and your work.
