About This Event

Tour of Viridor's Trident Park Energy Recovery Facility will showcase the Cardiff ERF to visitors on September 20, 2026, for free.

Tour of Viridor's Energy Recovery Facility - MINIMUM AGE 8 YEARS

Cardiff Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) is the largest ERF in Wales treating waste from the local authority and local business contracts. The facility, which has been operational since 2014, handles around 400,000 tonnes of residual waste (non-recyclable) waste, per year. It diverts at least 95% of South Wales’ residual waste away from landfill and generates 250GWh of electricity for the National Grid. That is enough to power around 88,448 households. Viridor would like to invite you to tour our Energy Recovery Facility in Cardiff, our Visitor Centre manager will show you how your non-recyclable waste is diverted away from landfill and processed safety into electricity and other recycled products for the construction industry. Spaces are extremely limited so booking is essential.
