Salut ! In English. We want to be as open as possible; that is why 1. we realise that it is difficult to discuss politics in French, and 2. we welcome guests from all over the world who do not speak French. Talking about politics is an integral part of French culture, thanks in large part to a culture of debate fostered by the mandatory teaching of philosophy in high school. We can probably agree that democracy is under attack all over the world. Information is so fragmented these days that, during our meetings, we generally just compile what we've recently learned about the topic of the month, rather than engaging in a genuine debate. But debate is possible and encouraged, provided it remains civil. We have a theme of the month, but the discussion isn't limited to that. Currently there are 10 themes (we don't meet in December): Cardiff and Wales, UK, Europe and Russia, North America, Central and South America, Middle East and Africa, India and China, Oceania and Asia (without India and China), Artic/Antarctic and Space, Cyberspace. Everybody is welcome!
