About This Event

A drumming workshop led by Mark Barfoot of Sacred Sounds CIC will take place at St Wilfrid's Catholic Church in Carlisle on 5 September 2026. The session has a ticket price of £0.00 and is open to those without prior experience.

Join local drumming expert Mark Barfoot of Sacred Sounds CIC in a drumming circle - no experience needed!

African drumming is a fun, high-energy activity which is suitable for all. Mark starts with warm ups and basic technique and teaches different African drumming rhythms on djembés (African hand drums) and bass drums (with sticks). You don’t need to be a musician or to already be able to play a musical instrument to join in. You don’t need your own African drum either - these will all be provided on the day!

Tickets are free, but limited - so we advise get yours well in advance.

You can also join us on our Instant Film Workshop on Sunday morning with Haltwhistle Film Project, as the audio from the workshop will be used as a soundtrack to an animated film that you will make!
