The Sexual & Third-Party Harassment HR Workshop is set for 18 November 2026 at Mercedes-Benz of Carlisle. This workshop will focus on understanding what constitutes 'all reasonable steps' in addressing harassment.
What Do “All Reasonable Steps” Actually Look Like?
Following the fantastic feedback from our previous workshops, Precision HR is returning to Mercedes-Benz of Carlisle for another practical session to help employers understand their responsibilities.
From 30 October 2026, employers must take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment. Employers will also become liable for harassment of their employees by third parties, such as customers, clients, visitors and contractors, if they have failed to take all reasonable steps to prevent it.
It’s all well and good being told to take “all reasonable steps”, but what do those steps actually look like? The law doesn’t give you a checklist. Government regulations setting out specific steps aren’t expected for some time, and while there is official guidance, it isn’t written with small businesses in mind.
Having a policy is a start, but can you show the practical steps your business is taking?
This workshop answers that question. We’ll move beyond the legislation and focus on the practical, everyday steps a small or medium-sized business can put in place, from briefing visitors and subcontractors to planning this year’s Christmas party. You’ll also have a go at completing a harassment risk assessment for your own organisation, so you leave with real progress made, not just notes.
Perfect timing before the festive season
Taking place shortly after the changes come into effect, this session gives employers an opportunity to review their approach, ask questions and identify any gaps in their preventative measures. With Christmas parties and festive work events approaching, it is also a timely reminder to consider risks beyond the everyday workplace.
Your responsibilities apply from 30 October, so please don’t wait until the workshop to take action. If you need support beforehand, Precision HR is here to help.
During this two-hour workshop, we’ll cover:
• What the changes mean for your business and what “all reasonable steps” looks like in practice, with real examples.
• Recognising sexual harassment and harassment involving customers, clients, visitors, contractors and other third parties.
• Identifying workplace risks, including lone working, customer-facing roles, work events and online communication.
• Practical measures such as briefing visitors, subcontractors and suppliers on the standards you expect.
• Reviewing policies and putting preventative measures in place.
• Having a go at completing a harassment risk assessment for your own organisation, with support on the day.
• Helping employees and managers understand how to recognise, report and respond to concerns.
• Keeping records to demonstrate the action you’ve taken.
With practical examples, discussion and time for questions, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your responsibilities, a risk assessment you’ve already started and practical next steps for your organisation.
A practical takeaway for every attendee
As with all Precision HR workshops, you’ll receive a complimentary resource to use in your business. This time, every attendee will receive a free harassment risk assessment template, which you’ll start completing for your own organisation during the session. It comes with practical examples of preventative measures and suggested wording you can adapt, such as briefings for visitors and subcontractors.
