Three Hills, One Stunning Circuit

As the name suggests, this walk takes us on a delightful scenic loop of Moffat via three low-lying hills in easy reach of the town.

The route heads out of Moffat and up Chapel hill road to Chapel farm enjoying changing views across the town and hills to the north and east.

Descending through fields back into town, we then follow a track up through an old beech wood and onto Gallow Hill, a community owned native woodland sitting to the north.

You’ll see the distant Devil’s Beeftub at the head of Annanwater valley as we head down into the dip and up to Hind Hill. It's a short, sharp ascent to the grassy top with fine views in all directions.

A gravel track leads us back downhill passing the old Moffat Well. ‘Taking the Waters’ is not advised!... but a local landmark nonetheless. Following rough paths, we reach Jenny’s Stone with views of Moffat and Queensberry hill to the south west.

The final leg brings us back to St. Andrews church on a level footpath alongside the main A708 Selkirk road.

This is a mixed terrain walk including road, field, steep uneven paths and tracks. It may be wet in places.
