About This Event

40,000 years of human creativity, carved into stone, bone and bronze, shape the story of sculpture. Jo Baring , art historian and curator, traces a line from the prehistoric Lion Man discovered hidden in a German cave, to the icons of the Italian Renaissance and the radical visions of artists including Alberto Giacometti, Barbara Hepworth, Louise Bourgeois and Yayoi Kusama. With Julia Wheeler , she explores why we have been driven to create sculpture since the very beginning of humanity. There will be a book signing after this event.
