Tutored Figure Drawing: A focus on Parts of the Body

People often claim that drawing heads or drawing hands is beyond their capabilities. In this course, we will concentrate on specific parts of the body, drawing from life models (clothed and nude), as well as from some photographs and plaster casts. With each lesson, we will take on a specific physical feature: hands, feet, torsos, for instance. Students will be taught how to approach each part with confidence, through the use of formulas and easy-to-memorise proportions, as well as basic anatomy.

Each lesson will include a demonstration from the tutor, to give students a means through which to approach the subject. The course will also teach students about rendering texture, building tones; general shading.

Although the emphasis is on specific areas of the body, students may also choose to treat the session as a general life drawing class, sketching more than just the topic of discussion.

These are tutored art classes, open to students of all abilities. A comfortable, sociable and encouraging atmosphere, for anyone who wants to improve their artistic skills and summon their creativity.

All material are provided, as well as tea and biscuits.
