Most growers think about summer as harvest time. The smart ones are already sowing for autumn and winter. This workshop shows you how to keep your plot working long after the courgettes have finished, so you’re still picking fresh, homegrown food when the nights draw in.

Lucy starts with an introduction to heirloom varieties and why they belong in your patch. From there we cover what to sow in July, how to plan successions so there are no gaps in your harvests, and the propagation know how that gets midsummer sowings off to a strong start.

You’ll sow your own seed tray in the polytunnel and take it home ready to grow on into the colder months.

Grow now, eat all winter.

Good to know

We’ll spend most of the day in our polytunnel, so dress for the weather. That means layers, sturdy shoes, and something waterproof if the sky looks moody - although we will be mostly under cover! Tunnels can be properly warm on a sunny day too. Please tell us about any dietary needs or access requirements when you book.
