About Gillian

We are delighted to welcome Gillian Sewell to our next networking event. Gillian has led YMCA Derbyshire as Chief Executive since 2000, growing the charity from a small team into an organisation of over 170 staff delivering housing, lifelong learning, early years provision, youth work and poverty relief support across Derby and Derbyshire. Under her leadership YMCA Derbyshire has built vital new accommodation for young people, established Key College and YKidz, and become a trusted and much-loved part of local community life.

Gillian is also known for her work with the Lewis Sewell Memorial Trust, set up in memory of her son to support young people entering the performing arts. As she prepares to step down from YMCA Derbyshire later this year,

Gillian will shortly take on the role of High Sheriff of Derbyshire for 2027 to 2028. Come along to hear from a genuinely inspiring local leader with a wealth of experience in community impact, resilience and leadership.
