Dover (St James's) Cemetery sadly reflects the importance of the Port of Dover during both World Wars, containing as it does more than 750 graves of British, Commonwealth and foreign casualties. Your guide will tell you about the history and current work of the CWGC and will recount some of the stories of those who rest here. The tours will last approx. 60 mins and covers about 800 metres on paths and grass with rough and uneven ground, and some of the site is on a steep hillside. Wheelchair access is possible but there is one short steep section on a path and slopes across the grass.
There is parking available on-site and there are no facilities or toilets on site, so please bring water if required.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Only assistance dogs allowed in the cemetery.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
