Join us for an introduction to Aiki-Jo, the practice of using the traditional Japanese wooden staff in Aikido. This class is suitable for complete beginners as well as martial arts practitioners who would like to explore Aikido weapons training.
Our experienced instructors will guide you through the fundamentals, including correct grip and handling, basic strikes and thrusts, footwork, posture and coordinated movement. You will also be introduced to the principles of awase and distance that are central to Aikido weapons practice.
No previous experience with Aikido or weapons is required. A jo will be provided if you do not have your own.
Whether you are interested in Japanese martial arts, want to develop coordination and body awareness, or simply want to try something new, this class offers an accessible introduction to Aiki-Jo.
